At zipcodeguy who (as the name suggests…) sells Zip Code Maps you can get a free zip code database which is of course an interesting thing to have when you want to offer location based services or information on your site. So have a look, spread the word or buy the download if you’re in need of such data. On the site there’s also a video explaining some details about the zip code database.
Alexa enjoys a solid standing throughout the web industry. The site provides graphs of visitor trends for any website (at least for the ones that actually have a certain amount of visitors). After entering a specific website address the traffic chart appears with geographical distribution stats.
Main point of criticism: census methods
Many web startuppers wonder what they should invest their hard saved pennies on, when starting up their web business. Ryan Carson of Carsonified took the time and put together the first one of a series of videos he is planning to do, named “How to Build a Web Start-up”.
Alex Tew, the creator of the MillionDollarHomepage did not receive too much publicity for his spinoff project Pixelotto. His plan was to collect $2 million and to give away half of that sum to one lucky winner. The concept has only been slightly changed to the MDHP: to get one mini ad you had to pay $200 (although you could buy more than one ad), which accouts 2$ for one pixel instead of $1.
