At zipcodeguy who (as the name suggests…) sells Zip Code Maps you can get a free zip code database which is of course an interesting thing to have when you want to offer location based services or information on your site. So have a look, spread the word or buy the download if you’re in need of such data. On the site there’s also a video explaining some details about the zip code database.

Alexa enjoys a solid standing throughout the web industry. The site provides graphs of visitor trends for any website (at least for the ones that actually have a certain amount of visitors). After entering a specific website address the traffic chart appears with geographical distribution stats.

Main point of criticism: census methods

Alex Tew, the creator of the MillionDollarHomepage did not receive too much publicity for his spinoff project Pixelotto. His plan was to collect $2 million and to give away half of that sum to one lucky winner. The concept has only been slightly changed to the MDHP: to get one mini ad you had to pay $200 (although you could buy more than one ad), which accouts 2$ for one pixel instead of $1. (more…)
